Sarasota’s Michelin Moment: A New Culinary Case for Living Downtown

Sarasota’s dining scene has a new national credential. In 2026, three local restaurants entered the Michelin Guide: Lucky 8 earned a Bib Gourmand, while Tralia and Focaccia Sandwich + Bakery received Michelin Recommended designations. For a city long associated with Gulf Coast beaches and the arts, the recognition adds another reason to look more closely at what is happening downtown and around Sarasota.

The timing is especially relevant at One Park Sarasota. Located in the Quay Waterfront District and adjacent to the 53-acre Bay Park, One Park is approaching anticipated Q1 2027 completion as Sarasota’s restaurant map continues to expand. For future residents, the story is not simply about having acclaimed restaurants in the city. Michelin Recognition Moves Closer to Downtown

Tralia offers a timely example, with Chef Anthony Petralia’s Italian restaurant and pizzeria being named Michelin Recommended in May, with inspectors highlighting its MVP pizza layered with marinara, vodka sauce and pesto. The recognition has translated into attention at the restaurant itself; Petralia told Sarasota Magazine that Tralia has been busier than ever, even during Sarasota’s traditionally slower summer months.

Now he is preparing to bring the concept closer to downtown. A second Tralia is planned for 1420 Boulevard of the Arts in the Rosemary District, with a December opening targeted. The larger restaurant is expected to add handmade pastas, more entrées, lunch service and a full bar while retaining pizza as part of the menu.

Petralia considered several areas before choosing the Rosemary District. His reasoning speaks directly to the changing character of this part of Sarasota: he cited its arts identity, proximity to downtown and growing collection of residences and hotels as part of the appeal.

Their Michelin distinctions show two very different sides of the city’s food culture.

Closer to One Park’s downtown setting, residents have access to an established collection of restaurants for evenings that call for everything from sushi and seafood to cocktails and dinner with friends. The Rosemary District has added Hanami, an East Asian fusion restaurant combining sushi and cocktails with an expressive, art-filled interior. Seafood., State Street Eating House + Cocktails and Owens Fish Camp, while additional dining within and around the Quay continues to broaden the options near home.

The geography matters. Not every restaurant belongs to the same neighborhood or sits the same distance from One Park, but together the Quay, downtown and Rosemary District create a compact dining and cultural environment around the residence. An evening might begin with a walk through The Bay Park, continue with dinner downtown or in the Rosemary District, and end back at a private residence overlooking Sarasota.
